Mrs. Roy's Marine Science Classroom

Sunday, November 25, 2012

Welcome to our 4th Grade Marine Science Classroom!

Gulfstream Elementary School introduced it's new Marine Science Academy (grades 3-5) this school year.
Happily, my request to teach the 4th grade Marine Science class was granted. My learning theory follows a constructivist approach. Students learn by "doing" and collaborating with peers. To kick off our inaugural year, my students contributed to a whale adoption fund and we adopted a humpback whale, Crystal, for the school year.

71% of the Earth's surface is water, and what better way to learn about the water than to learn about the creatures that inhabit the water?

We are currently studying whales and the differences between baleen and toothed whales. Join us in some interactive games.
